Initially trained as a speech and language pathologist holding both bachelor's and
master's degrees, Beth switched career paths several times, working in
communications, marketing andsales before pursuing her passion as an artisan
chocolatier. A successful career in sales for a Fortune 500 company could not
keep her from her true passion . . . chocolate.
"I couldn't be dishonest with myself any more," she said. "When I turned 50,
I had this epiphany that I really needed to be doing something I felt passionate
about. I realized that I wasn't living what I'd call an 'honest' life. I was just
punching the clock and moving through life instead of really living it."
After completing training at Ecole Chocolat's Professional Chocolatier program
and receiving her Master Chocolatier certification, she pursued that passion –
and her product was immediately recognized as exquisite.
Beth is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wichita Metro Chamber
of Commerce and is a founding member of the Fine Chocolate Industry
Association. She is a former Board member of the Wichita State University
Alumni Association and is very active with Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas.
In her rare leisure hours, Beth and husband Jay, a captain with the Wichita
Fire Department, enjoy spending time with their children, granddaughters
and three dogs.
Cheerleader / Handyman
Supporting Beth and the Cocoa Dolce staff is Jay's primary focus.
A Wichita firefighter by occupation, Jay is our Jack-of-all-Trades, doing everything from changing light bulbs to troubleshooting handyman-type things at our stores and production facility. We're not sure how we could keep this place running without him!
